Описание: Police have launched Investigations into a homicide in Kiliniochchi.

A priest from Ambalkulam in Kilinochchi was allegedly murdered on Wednesday night. The reason for the alleged murder is yet to be ascertained.


Sixty-nine-year=old Thamodaram Pillai Manoharan , a father of seven was killed on Wednesday night.

According the police the homicide had taken place between 06:15 and 06:45 Wednesday evening while the priest was engaged in religious observance at his private Devalaya. The Devalaya is located 150 metres away from the victim's residence.

Son of the victim said;
"At around 6.45, my mother told me over the phone that someone had stabbed my father. I then went to the location to check if he was alive. He was not. Then I went to the police. l, together with the police took my father to hospital."

Daughter of the Victim said;
"Father had been stabbed in the prayer room. People from the area arrived here. No one knows who did this, only God and our late father know it."

According to the police, stab wounds were evident on the victim's body.
The Kilinochchi Magistrate carried out the magisterial inquest last night and the body was taken to the Kilinochchi Hospital for the postmortem examination.

Police say that investigations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
