In 2019, the number of people aged 65 years or older hit 700 million, and is
projected to double to 1.5 billion by 2050. With this increase comes a desire
to “age in place” in the home and without the constant attention of a
caretaker. To help cope with this demand, more and more technology is being
driven into assisted living and at-home care.
mmWave radar sensing is a new technology that is being used for non-contact
measurement in patient and elderly care including for fall detection and
vital signs monitoring. It’s robust and non-privacy-invasive qualities make
it a unique and attractive sensing modality for applications in the home,
hospital, and in assisted care.
Why non-privacy-invasive qualities are so important in different sensing
applications
How mmWave can benefit applications such as occupancy detection,
contactless fall detection, and vital signs monitoring
What design challenges engineers are facing when implementing sensing
technology to keep people comfortable at home
TI mmWave’s robust and non-privacy-invasive qualities make it a unique and
attractive sensing modality for applications in the home, hospital, and in
assisted care.
