April 15, 2025 – A homicide suspect wanted in connection with a fatal hotel shooting in DeKalb County is located via real-time tracking. Trooper Matthews initiates a short but intense pursuit, terminating the incident with a textbook PIT deployment, resulting in the safe apprehension of both the primary suspect and an additional wanted passenger.
February 3, 2024 – A Nissan GT-R engaged in illegal street racing reaches speeds in excess of 168 mph. After multiple failed PIT attempts due to narrow roadways, Matthews maintains control throughout an extended high-risk pursuit until the suspect ultimately loses control and crashes. The driver is taken into custody for DUI and numerous related felony charges.
December 21, 2023 – An Infiniti G37, initially clocked at 102 mph in a 60-mph zone, flees at speeds exceeding 145 mph. Matthews coordinates with multiple agencies and executes a single, decisive PIT that brings the vehicle to a controlled stop. The driver, found to be impaired and wanted on child-related offenses, is arrested without further incident.
March 7, 2024 – A stolen Ford Fusion leads officers through residential streets and against traffic. Matthews performs two separate PIT maneuvers before the suspect abandons the vehicle and attempts to flee on foot. With the assistance of K-9 Loco, the individual is quickly apprehended.
