Hey food lovers! 🍽️
Today, I’m taking you to a hidden gem tucked away in Karnataka – Keshu’s Corner, a place that brings alive the rare and almost-forgotten Sanketi Brahmin cuisine. Rooted in traditions from Tamil Nadu’s Sengottai and thriving in the heartlands of Karnataka, this food trail is as soulful as it is delicious.
We kick things off with the incredibly crispy Udin Vade – deep-fried, crunchy on the outside and beautifully dense inside. Paired with some coconut chutney, it's the perfect starter that sets the tone for what’s to come.
Next, we try the delicate Ottu Shavige – hand-pressed rice noodles that are light, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth. It’s a rare dish made with so much care, often seen only in traditional homes during festivals.
Then comes Kolukatte, Sanketi-style – soft steamed rice dumplings with mild seasoning and a generous tempering of mustard and curry leaves. It’s minimal, comforting, and packed with flavor.
The Sorekayi Idly – made with bottle gourd – is a total surprise! It’s light, moist, and comes with that earthy sweetness from the gourd. Pepper gives that hit and coconut takes care of the crunchiness area. Healthy and delicious – what more can you ask for?
If you're a fan of lentils, you cannot miss the Nuchinunde – steamed dumplings made from ground dal, spiced with green chillies and herbs. It's hearty and satisfying, a true protein-packed treat.
And finally, we end on a sweet note with the legendary Ragi Halbai – a traditional dessert made from finger millet, coconut, and jaggery. It’s chewy, rich, and nostalgic all in one bite.
This is not another typical South Indian breakfast place — it’s a deep dive into a culinary heritage that's rarely found in restaurants. If you're someone who loves exploring regional food stories, this one is a must-visit.
📍 Keshu’s Corner is more than a restaurant — it’s like walking into someone’s home and getting served recipes passed down for generations.
