Manoharan, a marriage broker, presents numerous suitable suitors for their daughters; however, both Kubera and Prabhu are determined to ensure that the other's daughter does not marry first. On one occasion, Manoharan introduces a Middle Eastern NRI to Prabhu's daughter. Although he works in Oman, Prabhu deems him inappropriate, subjecting him and his family to verbal and physical abuse. In a fit of rage, Prabhu vows to take revenge by arranging a marriage for his daughter with the most unsuitable candidate available, stipulating that the suitor must be impoverished, uncivilized, and an orphan. He seeks Manoharan's assistance in locating such a match, leading to the introduction of Mattupetti Machan, a notorious laborer known for his unsavory reputation in the local market. Kannappan, the leader of a rival faction, frequently clashes with Machan over unloading duties.
