Bob shows us the differences between the more recently released Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Q2, and the original Panasonic rugged tablet, the Toughpad FZ-G1. To start, the FZ-Q2 has the bigger screen out of the two with a screen size of 12.5 inches. Meanwhile, the FZ-G1 has a screen size of 7 inches. The FZ-G1 is also a fully rugged tablet while the FZ-Q2 is just a semi-rugged tablet. And the difference in the levels of roughness between these units can be felt when holding the two of them. The FZ-G1 has rubber bumpers to help with the rugged feel of the tablet. The FZ-Q2 is just plastic.
When it comes to the batteries in these two units, the FZ-G1 has the perk of letting the user swap out the batteries while the FZ-Q2 has a non-removable battery in it. In the FZ-G1 you can also get an extended battery installed and it does also extend the back of the tablet, too. Another perk of the FZ-G1 is that it has more ports than the FZ-Q2. The FZ-Q2 only has a USB port and an audio port. Plus, the FZ-G1 has an upgrade slot too for a potential NIC port, an extra USB, or a barcode scanner and the FZ-Q2 does not have this option. The FZ-G1 also has more programmable buttons with an A1 and an A2. Then it also has audio buttons, a windows button, a rotating button, and a power button. Meanwhile, the FZ-Q2 only has a power button, one programmable button, a volume button, and a Windows button. One big perk of the FZ-Q2 is that it comes standard with Windows 10 with the option to downgrade to Windows 7 compared to the FZ-G1 was coming standard with Windows 7.
