India Today brings you all the latest developments and updates on the key Farmer-Centre meet over the contentious farm bills. The key Farmer-Centre meet that went on for more than 7 hours has come to end at Vigyan Bhavan. The next meeting will be held at 2 pm on December 5. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar spoke to media about today's meeting.
Following the meeting with farmers' representatives on Thursday, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the Centre will think about demands for MSP. While requesting the farmers to end the ongoing agitation, Tomar said that another meeting will be held in this regard at 2 pm on December 5.
"In the new Act, it has been provided that farmers can take their grievances to SDM court. Farmers' unions feel that SDM court is a lower court and they should be allowed to go the court. The government will consider this demand," Narendra Singh Tomar said.
He added, "They [protestors] also expressed their concerns over an Ordinance on stubble burning and the Act on electricity. The govt is open to consider and discuss these issues as well."
The delegation of 40 farm leaders demanded a nationwide law to guarantee MSP and a legal provision to punish anyone found buying produce below the MSP. Farmer unions have also sought the withdrawal of the Centre's three new farm laws.
