Climbing Lake Mead Island Peaks - Saddle Island & Bighorn Island

Описание: On this trip, I visited two peaks that were at one time islands in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The lake has receded so much, that these peaks are no longer islands & are accessible by foot. Because they jut out into the lake, they both have spectacular views.

I first visited saddle Island which sits in between Henderson & Boulder City. Here I made a painting, saw wildflowers, an awesome aerial battle between a hawk & a raven & enjoyed vast views over the lake to Arizona & the Muddy Mountains.

Next, I drove out to Echo Bay & visited Bighorn Island. This one had more of a wilderness feel & the views to Gold Butte, the Jimbilnan Wilderness and the Muddy Mountains were perhaps even more stunning. I saw several burros, 3 bald eagles and more along the way.
