In the 2021 Kerala Assembly election, P.V. Anvar, running as an Independent candidate, retained the Nilambur seat. He secured 81,227 votes, achieving a vote share of 46.90%. His closest rival, V. V. Prakash from the Indian National Congress (INC), garnered 78,527 votes with a 45.34% vote share. The margin of victory for Anvar was 2,700 votes. Other notable candidates included T.K. Ashok Kumar from the BJP, who received 8,595 votes (4.96%), and K. Babu Mani from the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), who received 3,281 votes (1.89%).
2016 Kerala Assembly Election
In 2016, P.V. Anvar, again contesting as an Independent, won the Nilambur seat with 77,858 votes, accounting for a 47.91% vote share. He defeated Aryadan Shoukath of the INC, who received 66,354 votes (40.83%). The victory margin was more substantial at 11,504 votes. The third position was held by Girish Mekkatt of BDJS, while K. His main opponent, Professor M. Thomas Mathew, running as an Independent, secured 60,733 votes (45%). Aryadan Mohammed’s victory margin was 5,598 votes.
