There’s something different about hunting with an old friend you don’t see often as you’d like. Brantley Gilbert and I hadn’t shared hunting camp in almost a year, but this week we got to slow down, sit still, and let the woods do what they do.
First in the video, I found an old stand back on an oak ridge that always has a couple of good bucks around. A buck tries to sneak in and makes a mistake!
Then later, Brantley Gilbert and I watched a buck bed down in a grown-up field and made a plan. Wind was right, timing was tight, and when the moment came, Brantley made it count. No rush. No noise. Just a clean shot on a heavy, beautiful deer.
It wasn’t about chasing a record. It was about being out there, enjoying the outdoors, oak trees dropping, campfire talk, and a hunt we’ll remember for a long time.
