The Tonquin Valley Trail is a 44 km horseshoe hike located in Jasper, Alberta and can be done in 2 - 5 days depending on weather you choose to do any side trips. This video includes the horseshoe traverse as well as a side trip to the Emerite Valley & Moat Lake making it a 70 km trek. We parked our truck at Portal Trailhead and then rode a bike to Astoria.
We camped at:
Astoria x 1 night
Surprise Point x 2 nights
Amethyst Lake x 2 nights
Portal 1 x night
The trail is easy going but muddy in places and be prepared for trillions of bugs, bug face nets are a necessity and bug spray has little or no effect. Surprise Point was painful as there were just so many and we heard Clithroe was bad to.
