American Pillar Arborvitae, I planted on October 20th 2022 I ordered 24 online from Great Garden Plants which came in good condition. I was worried about planting in the fall since there was not much time left in the season for watering and for the roots to take hold. Over the winter of 2022 the trees turned almost black and most of them were weighted down by heavy snow. I was certain they would not make it, since winter was very windy and the trees had no protection from the wind. As soon as the last frost passed in my area (New York) I began a watering schedule of 2 hours of dripping hose every day for 10 days, then 2 hours dripping hose every 2 days, now I water 2 hours twice a week. I did skip this week since we had very heavy thunderstorms for a week now ( today is 6/29/2023).
