Parupu Urandai Kulambu
Ingredients:-
Chana Dal(soaked) - 150g
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Garlic Cloves - 5-6
Green chillies - 3
Curry leaves- 2 sprigs
Onions (chopped) - 2
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
Tomatoes(chopped)- 2
Turmeric - pinch
Red chilli powder - 1 tb spn
Coriander powder - 1 tb spn
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Tamarind juice - 1 cup
Coriander leaves - 1 bunch
Jaggery - 1 tsp
Sesame seed oil - 2 tb spn
Salt - As Required
Water - As Required
Oil - As Required
Method:-
Take a blender add soaked chana dal, fennel seeds, garlic cloves. Grind it into coarse paste. In that add
Finely chopped green chillies, onions, curry leaves and mix it well. Make them into lemon size dumplings and keep it aside
In a pot add Sesame seed oil, mustard seeds, urad dal. Add chopped onions, salt and sauté it till they turn golden brown. Now add chopped tomatoes and cook it closed for 5 minutes. Add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and cook it for few minutes. Crush a dumpling in tamarind juice and add it to the gravy as shown. Now add the dumplings and let it boil for 10 minutes. In the last adjust seasoning and add coriander leaves and a pinch of jaggery.
Serve it with hot Rice
