Monday 29th May 2023 saw the unusual spectacle of a train running through platform 1 at Retford without stopping. All through trains normally pass through on the fast line, but the 'Flying Banana' caused the unusual announcement asking 'passengers to stand clear of the edge of the platform as the next train is not scheduled to stop'.
Class 43, HST power cars 43272 and 43274 provided power for the train.
Also filmed was class 91 91101 'Flying Scotsman, a Grand Central class 180 and a Lumo class 803.
