Concerns are also being raised that this exercise could be a backdoor attempt to implement NRC (National Register of Citizens), echoing fears from the 2019 CAA-NRC protests across the country.

The Election Commission claims political parties were informed in advance, but doubts persist. With legal petitions reaching the Supreme Court, the final outcome of this voter list controversy remains to be seen.
