Cells are the basic units of life, and all living organisms are made up of cells. Based on their structure and complexity, cells are classified into two main types: prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells.
🔬 Prokaryotic cells are simple and small cells that do not have a true nucleus or membrane-bound organelles. Their genetic material is found in a region called the nucleoid. Examples include bacteria and archaea.
🧬 Eukaryotic cells are larger and more complex cells that have a true nucleus enclosed by a nuclear membrane and contain membrane-bound organelles such as mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, and chloroplasts (in plants). Examples include plant cells, animal cells, fungal cells, and protists.
In this video, you will learn:
✔️ Definition of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
✔️ Structural differences between them
✔️ Presence and absence of nucleus and organelles
✔️ Ribosome types (70S vs 80S)
✔️ Examples of organisms for each cell type
✔️ Importance of cell types in biology
