This is the second video from a unique seven-day Kriya Yoga retreat organized by Prajnana Mission in Rajasthan, India, in 2019. The retreat was titled "Kriya Yoga Retreat with Mother Cows" and was held at Manorama Golok Tirtha, in a small village named Nandgaon, in Rajasthan, from November 21 through 28 in 2019. Five hundred kriyavans from across the world assembled at this unique ecological lab nestled in the Aravalli hills. The days were packed with, satsangs, visits, treks, and also meditation in the midst of nature guided by Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji. Also in attendance was Pathmeda Maharaj, revered Swami Dattasharananandaji, who has been instrumental in making Pathmeda (and Nandgaon) a center of an ecological revolution, based on nurturing mother cows and adopting the lost art of a way of living that had led to health, happiness, and prosperity in India's glorious past.
In this video, you will hear a beautiful forty-five minutes discourse in Hindi from the revered Maharaj of Pathmeda, Swami Shri Dattasharananandaji. Swamiji never allows himself to be photographed or videoed, so the camera stays on Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji while Swamiji speaks. Translating Swamiji's talk to English, Prajnananandaji starts off by reminding the audience how blessed they are to be in the holy company of Swamiji, a saint who speaks from his heart, with experience in spirituality. His chants, his prayers, and indeed his entire discourse is filled with the wisdom and love of one who has deeply experienced divinity. Truth is one, Swamiji said, and from that one truth, everything else in the universe has manifested. We human beings have a special ability to experience this truth and to transform the world into a better place. There are many ways to experience this, but given the context of the Kriya Yoga retreat, Swamiji gave an example from Mundaka Upanishad where just as an archer fixes the arrow on a bow and aims at the target, the seeker has to use the divine breath and sound to reach the divine goal. To grow up on this path, we also need to cultivate our ability to discriminate the eternal from the ephemeral. However, on this path many times our progress is not satisfactory because we have not learned how to take care of our mind, intellect, and our body. Good health is accomplished when there is a true integration of a healthy mind, healthy intellect, and healthy body. Dattasharananandaji says that the easiest way to accomplish this is to live in the presence of "Vedalakshna Go" or the sacred cow which is extolled in the Vedas. Modern science can only explain a little bit of the benefit of such a living, which was deeply understood by the Vedic sages. Swamiji mentions that if one sits with inner determination and meditates in a holy place where the mother cow is nurtured, one can experience the beauty of the presence of the mother cow. Dattasharananandaji ends his discourse with a simple statement of conviction that on this earth, the Vedalakshana cow is a living and moving divinity in our front, who nurtures us with milk and milk products, just like a mother nurtures her child. Swami Dattasharananandaji's sublime speech and Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji's beautiful summarization of it make this video worth watching for all spiritual seekers. The inaugural video of this retreat has also been posted to this channel.
It is worthwhile to note that Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji has previously stated how his experience at Pathmeda and the thinking of Swami Dattasharananandaji Maharaj have brought about a revolution and a resolve in his own mind. The result is great clarity of how nurturing the mother cow and a renewed focus on food and health can lead to solving today's problems of ecological imbalance, poor health, and unhappiness in our lives. Paramahamsaji is now dedicating this life to serving the mother cows, along with the spreading of the scientific teachings of Kriya Yoga. Paramahamsaji has also mentioned that this is aligned with the thinking of his own Guru Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji who used to mention - the beautify of an ashram is in the presence of the mother cow and sages, and that an ashram without mother cows is no ashram at all.
Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji is a revered Kriya Yoga master who travels the world over teaching Kriya Yoga and how to practice spirituality in daily lives. He is the current Guru in a long and unbroken lineage of Masters starting with Babaji Maharaj and including such spiritual giants as Yogiraj Shri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahashaya, Swami Shriyukteshwar Giri, Shri Bhupendranath Sanyal Mahashaya, Paramahamsa Yogananda the author of Autobiography of a Yogi, Swami Satyananda Giri, and Paramahamsa Hariharananda.
