Defending the presidency’s actions, Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, says the President had a responsibility to take remedial steps to protect the integrity of ongoing investigations. He insists the committee’s work will go beyond candidates to include receivers of alleged inducements, stressing that decisive action is necessary to prevent the party from falling into disrepute and to uphold the principles of the reset agenda.

Corporate lawyer and entrepreneur Victoria Bright describes voter inducement as a growing business model that is steadily weakening democracy, sometimes rendering the voter irrelevant. She supports the establishment of an investigative committee but calls for a renewed focus on meritocracy in Ghana’s democratic process.

Legal scholar and energy expert Lom Nuku Ahlijah dismisses claims of confusion among the presidency, the NDC, and Parliament, suggesting that expanding the electoral college in party elections could significantly curb vote-buying.

From the opposition’s perspective, Henry Nana Boakye, NPP National Organiser, condemns the open display of alleged inducement, calling it disgraceful. He questions why Baba Jamal appears to be singled out and urges a broader national conversation to stop what he describes as the creeping rise of “moneytocracy” in Ghanaian politics.
