In this episode, farmer and former architect Rob Scott takes us through his fascinating home conversions: turning bedford trucks into self-sufficient tiny homes.

Rob initially saw the need for more space in the family home, and so decided to purchase a gypsy wagon and build a house on the back of it for his daughter. Then, he built his own on the back of an old bedford truck, which his other daughter quickly claimed. He says that each time he would build a new one, somebody he knew would want it.

Now, Rob finally has his own down by the river on his property, and runs DIY workshops out of his farm for people wanting to learn how to build their own sustainable tiny homes.

The family even lived in one of them when they were renovating the farm house, which he says allowed them to get along better because of the small space they were navigating together.

Rob uses recycled materials such as wood and repurposed wooden furniture, despite them often being three times the price of new materials. He insists that this lifestyle which involves building your own home, growing your own food, and make your own clothes are human rights.
