Probably 90% of stairways in India have steps which do not comply with the National Building Code and Building bye Laws.
These will be the cause of many injuries from slips, trips and falls. Also, these stairs cause untold misery to countless the aged, the infirm, pregnant ladies, and those with disabilities.
Builders flout the rules not just because they do not know the rules but because they make more money by making smaller stairways as it allows them to sell more "carpet area" on each floor. In the name of profit, they do not consider the misery and harm they are causing society.
As the local town planner accept these wrong building plans without any objection they too are complicit, often assisted with bribes.
