THE LEGEND OF HEROES: TRAILS THROUGH DAYBREAK

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak is a 2021 role-playing video game developed by Nihon Falcom.

The game is the eleventh installment of the Trails series, itself a part of the larger The Legend of Heroes franchise, and is the first game in the Calvard story arc.

It marks the second half of the Trails series and is the first to be set in the Republic of Calvard.

Trails Through Daybreak was released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 in September 2021.

A port for the PlayStation 5 was released in Japan and other Asian regions in July 2022, along with a Windows port in Chinese and Korean.

A Japanese Windows port was released in March 2023.

An English version by NIS America, including a Nintendo Switch port, was released in July 2024.

A sequel, Trails Through Daybreak II, was released in 2022.

SYNOPSIS

The game marks the second half of the Trails series, set in Calvard.

The story is set in S.1208, a year after Trails into Reverie.

Thanks to postwar reparations, the multicultural state of Calvard experiences unprecedented economic growth while continuously dealing with public unrest caused by immigration and the new president's radical reforms.

In a corner of Edith, a young man working as a Spriggan receives a peculiar job that will result into something larger, affecting the entirety of the Republic.

Spriggan――a back-alley job born from the melting pot that is the Republic of Calvard.

They can accept requests from anyone and everyone, serving as detectives one day, negotiators the next, and bounty hunters the day after.

A spriggan may be called to handle jobs the police can't, to consult with people about topics they don't want getting out, and sometimes even to do above-board jobs for criminals and underground groups.

They do all this because it is the spriggan way.

EDITH

Edith is the capital city of Calvard.

It is the largest city on the continent.

Locations include Revolution Plaza, which looks out onto the office of the president and Republic Assembly Hall built 90 years ago; the prestigious high school that produces many elites; the districts lined with publishers and orbal movie theaters; the old town untouched by developments; the commercial district that looks out on the riverside; and on the main street, you can see White Clove Trees on the roadside.

As the continent's leading orbal vehicle superpower, a variety of vehicles ride along the streets, and traffic lights were introduced here before other countries.

It is also widely known to be the first city in the continent to adopt a metro system in place of a tram network.

Edith is separated into 12 official districts.

There is an unofficial thirteenth district known as the Blacklight District which moves around various underground spaces beneath the city, and is host to legally dubious and underworld activity.
