In the village of Jangamonipalli, located in Thelakapalli mandal of Nagarkurnool district, Telangana, there is a community of Dalits, particularly the Mala caste, who make up only about 10 to 20 percent of the population, while the majority are from the BC community. For generations, the BC community has excluded the Dalits from temples and sacred events. Dalits are not allowed inside the temple sanctum and are only permitted to perform certain rituals from outside. For instance, if coconuts need to be broken for an offering, Dalits have to hand them to someone from the BC community, who then performs the ritual inside. This form of discrimination has persisted for centuries.

In response, as a media person , I visited the village to document these injustices. On the night of Navaratri, we took the Dalit community members inside the temple and allowed them to perform the rituals and offer prayers directly to the goddess, something that had never happened before in that village’s history. This was a significant step towards breaking the age-old caste barriers.

In the first part of the video, we focused on the events leading up to this moment. In the second part, we’ll show how the Dalit community members actually entered the sanctum and experienced the divine presence themselves. We also addressed the resistance from some individuals in the BC community, who tried to claim that the temple would be defiled. We firmly responded to these claims and demonstrated that such discrimination has no place in modern society.

In the end, we also spoke with the village leader and worked to educate the BC community members about the need to end caste-based discrimination. This is the overall narrative that we will present in both the English and Telugu scripts for the video description.
