HOLD OUT significa:
1. To extend your hand or an object in front of you.
Examples: Hold out your hand and I’ll give you some candy. He held out his hand to shake hers.
2. To survive or resist a challenging situation such as an attack, temptation or pressure.
Examples: I wonder if people can hold out on another planet. I’m starving, and I don’t think I can hold out any longer!
3. To refuse to accept anything less than your original demand or expectation.
Examples: Marshawn Lynch is holding out for more money, and many speculate Russell Wilson will hold out as well. You should hold out for what you really want, so in the end you won’t have any regrets.
