Since my sight-reading session of Schubert/Horn’s Die schöne Müllerin, D. 795 on November 23rd, I had not practiced the piano at all.
Today, I resumed by sight-reading the second movement of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 30, a piece among his final three sonatas (Nos. 30-32) that I had not yet practiced.
Even with a generous estimate, my total piano practice time for the period of July to December 2025 is approximately 30 hours.
My practice consists almost entirely of sight-reading (over 95%), and I record and upload the entire process. The remaining 5% or less is dedicated to scale exercises performed before recording.
Even if I practice as much as possible for the remainder of this year, I expect my total practice time for the second half of 2025 to remain under 40 hours.
During this remaining time, I plan to sight-read one or two of the following works: Brahms’ Piano Sonata No. 3, Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 (the first movement of the composer’s solo arrangement), or Schumann’s Op. 17.
Looking ahead to next year, I intend to use my spare time to sight-read the remaining Beethoven Sonatas that I have not yet explored, with the goal of eventually sight-reading the complete cycle.
Please note that my sight-reading sessions are primarily for my own practice and may not be suitable for casual listening or appreciation.
Thank you!
