Lasers in Dendrochronology (Tree-Ring Dating) | Laser Engraving Tree Rings

Описание: This week we're speaking with Cameron McQuaig and Lawrence Onisto to show you how laser technology can significantly improve on traditional methods of Tree-Ring Dating, or Dendrochronology.

We use our SP2000 large format laser cutter as well as our Speedy 360 laser engraving machine to engrave the wood samples from trees from across Canada and across centuries!

Laser engraving can significantly reduce time spent on traditional methods of tree-ring dating which involves tedious sanding and then burning to product a carbon print.

Cameron also creates artistic prints by copying the carbon from the burnt tree rings onto a canvas creating amazing works of art!
