Everyone told me not to do it. I did it anyway.

I grew up in a small town. It was too small for me. I learned one thing in college that mattered: supply and demand. Everything I’ve ever done in business comes back to that. If I don’t understand supply and demand, I don’t participate.

I didn’t know who I was until I left. The moment I crossed the state line, my life started. No teachers. No schedules. No bosses. No safety net.

My mother did me a huge favor. She burned the bridge. She told me I could never come back home. No backup plan. No comfort. Burning the bridge is a massive skill. People underestimate it. Comfort kills growth.

I’ve always looked for platforms. People undervalue platforms. I worked nearly two decades in one company. I wasn’t special. I just didn’t quit. Attrition is real. Let other people mess it up. Stay in the game long enough and production covers your flaws.

I like disruption. People inside an industry for too long can’t change it. They’re all in the same club. Outsiders see what insiders ignore. Ten cents doesn’t matter to them. Ten cents matters when you’re moving billions.

Everyone has opinions. Very few are willing to bet behind them. Commitment is everything. You don’t need to be good at everything. You need to be world-class at one thing. Babe Ruth struck out more than anyone. He’s remembered for home runs.

Money isn’t the point. Freedom is. Freedom is the ability to say no to anything and yes to anything. I walked away from a career making millions because I was bored. If you chase money and lose yourself, who cares?

Every dollar I’ve ever made came from a pivot. I once lost tens of millions in months. I admitted I was wrong. I closed the position. I stood in front of the same people who crushed me and owned it. That loss set up the biggest deal of my life. Pain creates clarity if you don’t run from it.

Fear is a signal. People run from fear. You should run toward it. Ask yourself what you’re terrified to do and go do that. Life is the adventure. You never pay too much for a great one.

Happiness is overrated. It’s undefined. Most people are numb every day, trading life for comfort and a paycheck. Don’t do that.

Be authentic. It’s the rarest thing on the planet. Don’t cut corners. Cutting corners extends pain. Cut a corner and you extend the journey. Cut a corner and you lose yourself.

Do what you’re built for. If you’re a hunter, hunt. Don’t sit in meetings pretending to be a manager. Most people are miserable because they’re playing the wrong role.

This isn’t a plan. It’s an adventure. Stay in it. Don’t quit. Other people will fail before you do.
