Shiny Entei in the Romhack Pokemon Crystal Clear.
If you dont know the Romhack I advise you to look it up, its the best way to play Crystal IMO. Various quality of life improvements, pokemon folloing you, its competely open world and Gyms/Trainers scale with your level.

The chances of encountering a shiny is still the 1/8192 chance you know from the original Gen 2 games, and it took me roughly a month to hunt it, which is still quick.
The best thing about the Rom hack is its compability to other gen 2 games since the major mechanics are still the same. It is also compatible to Pokemon Bank.
Anyways, the hunt for entei was a nightmare, since I was stupid enough to overlevel my gengar, repels didnt work anymore so I had to do the hunt without repels, which literally took HOURS just to hunt it down.
