Two men have died after a light aircraft crashed in Littleborough today.
The small plane came down on farmland near Hollingworth Lake, close to the M62, just after 11am.
It is understood to be a Cirrus SR20 that took off from Birmingham earlier.
Emergency services including police, firefighters and air ambulance attended the scene. A parachute from the aircraft’s safety system was seen caught in a nearby pylon.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed two people were on board and sadly both died in the crash. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is now involved to establish what happened.
