EYEBRONCO: Stephen Schott '60 First Pitch

Описание: Santa Clara alumnus Stephen Schott '60, the namesake of Stephen Schott Stadium, threw out the first pitch before the Sunday, April 29, 2015 baseball game between Santa Clara and Gonzaga. The event commemorated the 10-year anniversary of the home of Bronco baseball, which opened on April 30, 2005 in front of a sellout crowd before a matchup between Santa Clara and Gonzaga. The Broncos won the 10th anniversary game 6-5.

A Santa Clara native, Schott attended nearby Bellarmine College Prep and went on to play baseball for the Broncos. During his SCU career, Schott was on the hill for victories against Stanford and UCLA. After his time with the Broncos, Schott began work in real estate development and was co-owner of Major League Baseball's Oakland Athletics for 10 years — working on the business side of the franchise.

Schott is a longtime supporter of Bronco baseball, and his $4 million pledge in 2004 served as a major component in the foundation of this state-of-the-art facility. Schott and his wife Patricia Schott also funded the Patricia A. and Stephen C. Schott Admission and Enrollment Services Building on the Mission Campus, which opened its doors in 2012. He was inducted into the Santa Clara University athletics hall of fame in May 2014.
