What you can do is to keep it for your children, your children’s children, and for all who come after you, as one of the great sights which every American, if he can travel at all, should see." The United States is littered with landscapes rich in biodiversity, geological features, and stunning displays of natural wonder. Team Altra Elite, Hayden Hawks, happens to live near 3 of the most visited National Parks and even holds the Fastest Known Time for the "Trans-Zion" trail. For him, these public lands are an outlet for adventure—worthy of responsible protection—and as runners alike, we are explorers who thrive in the act of moving through a place of solace. On this National Public Lands Day, Altra Running stands by conservation and advocacy groups seeking to keep whole the parks and public spaces as they have existed for decades, and encourage outdoor enthusiasts to not only visit these places responsibly, but join us in speaking up for their preservation.

We weren't started in some corporate office, but in the back room of a Wasatch Mountain running store. Our founders, —elite athletes and running store managers, —wanted a shoe that let you run the way you were born to. They noticed that the design of most running shoes was hurting runners more than helping them. Elevated heels promote high-impact landing and narrow toe boxes squeeze the toes out of their natural position.
