Collaborative Proactive Solutions - 'Plan B' Parenting

Описание: Many children respond to punishment or even reward systems with escalating bad behavior, to their parents’ dismay and frustration. Dr. Ross Green has developed a model of parenting that uses neither, and results in better relationships and better outcomes. He calls his approach Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), and has described the process in his books including The Explosive Child, Raising Human Beings, and Lost at School.

The model is based on the idea of addressing the lagging skills and unmet needs behind behavior and working out a solution (Plan B) instead of punishing or rewarding the end behavior (Plan A). When a kid is acting out, through disobedience, rudeness, or even violence, the problem they’re having precedes the behavior and needs to be investigated and the unmet needs resolved.

Plan B Parenting is about compassion and collaboration, not about imposing parental will on the child. And, strangely enough, kids who can trust their parents to empathize and problem-solve with them have access to better choices, and behave better.
