Front Mounted Glass Mosaic Tile

Описание: This glass tile may look beautiful, but it demands alot of patience & skill to install. This particular glass is part of the Haute Collection, by Alyse Edwards, color "Proud as a Peacock". Here is what makes this glass challening to install:

1. First off. many of the tiles are sheet mounted very crooked. I'm very curious as to why. I know it's not just this brand of glass, because I've worked with many other makers of similar glass tile and they're all the same...very crooked. Even on the manufacturers website, it shows the tiles crooked, the problem is...I can't leave them all like that! LOL! I can't fix them all, but try my best to fix the worst ones. This video will show you my process.

2. The Second challenging part of this glass, is that they are front mounted with very sticky pastic. This is a challenge, because you cannot remove the plastic until the next day when the tile is dry. If you try to remove the plastic the same day as installation, you'll end up pulling the tile off of the surface. Since the front mounted plastic cannot be removed until the next day, this means that you can't clean any thinset that squeezes through the grout joints until the next day...when the thinset is dried.

Cutting the glass is a breeze with my Rubi Speed Tile Cutter, I didn't need to use a tile saw for this backsplash.

I also recommend using Pro-Lite Thinset, by Custom Builing Products. It has superior bond strength, sufficient for glass installations, and the non-sag feature works wonders holding the sheets in place.
