In this video, I discuss how filters can help to stop a non-standard Bitcoin transaction from being passed from node to node through the Bitcoin network.
I also discuss direct submission services like MARA's Slipstream which charge about 3x to mine non-standard transactions.
It wasn't spam filters that caused the mining pool centralization problem. It's actually the reverse: it's the mining pool centralization problem that makes spam such a big problem.
People like Luke Dashjr and Bitcoin Mechanic are working hard to attack both prongs of this problem. It would be really nice if Bitcoin Core pitched in and helped, if they really care about nodes, rather than just crypto VC's and mining pool spammers.
