Dunino Den is situated in a remote part of the East Neuk of Fife and can be a bit difficult to get into for those that are not the fittest.
It is said to be an ancient site off Druid rituals and sacrifices, but there is no credible written evidence of this. It seems to be a very magical hidden valley with a river running through, there are a number of carvings in the rocks , with a fantastic man’s face in the rock like he is the keeper of the Den.
It is more than a bit spooky and it is easy to imagine the Den being used for rituals or services.
There is a church next to the Den. It was not uncommon for the early Christians to build their churches on or near to earlier Pagan religious sites.
Morag had fun exploring all the hidden bits of the Den.
