Goldsteig is a long-distance hiking trail that spans over 600km in the eastern part of Bavaria, skirtin the Czech Republic as well as Austria.
This small section covers some of the higher peaks in Germany's oldest designated National Park 'Bayrischer Wald' (est. 1970).
This stretch takes me from the bus station named 'Racheldiensthütte' to Mauth along narrow rocky paths, over wooden walkways and up to the mountain peak of 'Lusen', a seemingly random collection of boulders and giant rocks, very at odds with the forested landscape.
I also lose the trail for a bit and do some bushwhacking. All in all, a wonderful finish to this 2-day trip.
