Описание: Roadside Rockhounding For Jet Black Obsidian In The Napa Valley, at the base of Glass Mountain, a foothill composed entirely of tuff and obsidian, with massive amounts of Native American quarries and diggings sites. located all over the mountain, where I have found loads of toss downs and blanks of every shape. this site has seen more than 13,000 years of human occupation and use of its abundant natural resource, in a area where it stands alone as a massive deposit of what was one of the main tool making materials of the time, and almost every stone for meters down has been effected and altered by the endless crafting and tool making of the earliest humans in the area all the way until the Stone Age ended with the spread of European metals. it is well known but the production sites and understanding of it as a cultural mega site is almost lost at this point. please respect the private property owners and use good judgement when collecting the raw material roadside, also, the river beds, vineyards and creeks for miles around have large amounts of obsidian and the bridges make good access points. please be lawful, courteous, and careful.
