Following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the US military and his transfer to a New York jail, Venezuela has entered a critical political phase. Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has assumed charge as the Acting President, triggering sharp reactions from Washington.

US President Donald Trump issued a direct warning to Delcy Rodriguez, stating that failure to follow US directives could lead to consequences even worse than Maduro’s fate. However, soon after, the United States clarified its position.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that America will not directly govern Venezuela, contradicting earlier remarks by Trump. Rubio emphasized that the US objective is to strictly enforce oil sanctions, apply economic pressure, prevent drug trafficking, and push for democratic reforms — not to take over Venezuela’s administration.
