The car has done just over 88,000 miles and has the 4 speed gearbox. Volvo introduced the car in 1968 as a more prestigious oriented development of the Volvo 144. The principle change was the introduction of the 3.0-litre 6 cylinder engine and this was the first time Volvo had offered this size engine aimed at the private car buyer market for over 20 yrs.

When introduced the 164 front had its own styling, the bonnet was longer to make room for the larger engine and the shape of the front also imparted greater prestige owing to its much large grille. Interior wise the seats were totally different seeing a choice of more the materials used in the design including the option of Leather, as fitted to this car. The cars production only ran until 1975 and a check on What’s Left today suggests there are just 4 licenced and 1 SORN 1969 Volvo 164 left today making this a both a rare and unusual car.

Due to its age, the car is MOT and Tax exempt.
