According to officials from the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, cyber criminals are constantly changing their methods and targeting people through new techniques.
In Telangana alone, cyber fraudsters are reportedly stealing around ₹4 to ₹5 crore every day through various online scams.
Investigations reveal that the stolen money often moves through multiple digital channels and is eventually converted into Cryptocurrency, before being transferred overseas.
Currently, the most common cyber fraud methods include:
• Fake investment and trading scams
• Digital arrest fraud calls pretending to be police or officials
• Sextortion scams using video calls or fake profiles
• Marriage / relationship scams targeting professionals and business people on social media
Cyber experts say that by following a few simple precautions, people can protect themselves from these scams.
