End of season fun race, open to all 'closed wheel' cars that compete in Historic Sports Car Club racing, such as Historic Touring Cars, Roadsports, Guards Trophy GT and Sports Cars, Classic Clubmans, Martini Trophy and SuperSports, so lots of variety.
It's held on the short 'National Circuit' at Silverstone over 20 laps or 25 minutes and split into different classes. The Beetles best lap time was a 1:15.7 (on skinny historic crossply tyres)
I Qualified 19th, briefly getting up to 14th, then spun out on lap 2 at Copse corner which put me all the way back in 28th position. Over the remaining laps I managed to claw my way back, just behind David Lloyds Mustang, battling with Mark Lawtons Porsche 924 for 16th position when 2 laps from the end my throttle cable snapped!

Engine Spec: 1285cc, EMPI 44HPMX carbs, Custom&Speed Parts bell crank throttle linkage EMPI H-Beam rods, EMPI shallow sump, Engle FK10 cam, EMPI rockers 1.25 inlet 1.1 exhaust, Flowed VW twinport heads 35.5mm inlet 32mm exhaust, EMPI merged drag exhaust with motorsport silencer. Cooling by Porsche 911 fan conversion by Custom&Speed Parts. Power 126bhp@7300rpm, Torque 97ft/lb 5000-7000rpm.
Gearbox: Close ratio 4 speed with Quaife ATB limited slip diff built by Bears Motorsport.
Suspension: Standard front suspension with EMPI 2.5" drop spindles, one set of caster shims and Quantum motorsport dampers, adjustable heavy duty front anti-roll bar, Rear suspension lowered 2 splines with adjustable heavy duty Z-bar and Quantum motorsport dampers.
Brakes: Custom&Speed Parts disc brakes all round with front/rear bias adjustment
Wheels/Tyres: EMPI Raider wheels with treaded Dunlop L historic racing tyres (tyre widths 120mm front, 135mm rear)
