On Tuesday June 22, 2011 after seeing the Normal Heart at the Golden Theatre on Broadway I saw Larry Kramer (an American playwright, authors, public health advocate, and LGBT rights activist) outside the theatre continuing his activism handing out a personal letter he wrote to the audience members who just saw his play. In the Broadway version of the Normal Heart his stand-in for himself (Ned Weeks) was played by Joe Mantello while in Ryan Murphy's HBO production he was played by Mark Ruffalo. Joe Mantello played the role of Mickey Marcus which was portrayed on Broadway by Patrick Breen.
