Not All Economic Doom and Gloom for Europe in 2025

The European Central Bank should wait until at least September to have an in-depth discussion about an interest-rate move, according to Governing Council member Boris Vujcic.
“We feel that we are now in a very good position,” the Croatian central-bank chief told Bloomberg Television. “It’s worth now waiting to get more data and in my view, to get another projection before we decide where we want to go and hopefully by that time get more clarity on the on the trade relationships.” 
The ECB publishes economic forecasts every quarter, with the next set of estimates due at its Sept. 10-11 meeting in Frankfurt. With the ECB having lowered its deposit rate to 2% from 4% in a year, President Christine Lagarde is signaling that the campaign of cuts is nearing an end. Some officials even see the cycle as already finished, arguing that inflation is settling around the target and that the economy doesn’t need any more support from monetary policy.
A rate cut in September at the earliest is also in line with market pricing, though investors are leaning more toward the ECB’s December meeting.
A July 9 deadline on US President Donald Trump’s tariff policy has been casting uncertainty over Europe’s economic outlook, though Vujcic warned against making assumption on what may happen in this regard.
