Our journey begins with a smooth boat ride to Squid Lips Restaurant, a beloved waterfront spot known for its laid‑back atmosphere, beachfront dining, delicious food, good drinks, and that classic Space Coast charm.
After lunch, we hoist the sails and spend the afternoon exploring the Intracoastal Waterway, gliding past mangrove shorelines, dolphin‑friendly channels, and the historic Eau Gallie Causeway. First built as a wooden bridge in 1926 and later replaced with the high‑rise span completed in 1988, the causeway has long served as a vital link between Eau Gallie and the barrier island communities of Indian Harbor Beach. Its surrounding waters once carried steamers, traders, and early settlers navigating the Indian River long before modern roads arrived.
We continue our sail past the Eau Gallie Yacht Club, a fixture of the local boating community, and enjoy a peaceful tour along its waterfront. With steady wind and calm water, the day unfolds in classic Florida fashion — sun overhead, river breeze in our sails, and the quiet rhythm of the lagoon guiding us forward.
As the sun begins to dip, we pass beneath the causeway bridge under and make our final approach to Ballard Park using only the power of sail, docking gently at the marina. The park sits near the historic heart of Eau Gallie, a community founded in the 19th century and once home to early settlers like John Carroll Houston IV and William Henry Gleason, whose land shaped the region’s development.
This 4K adventure blends boating, sailing, local history, and waterfront storytelling, offering a relaxing and immersive look at life along Florida’s iconic Indian River Lagoon.
