The Stoates of Anna Plains are a multigenerational Station family, whose involvement in the property dates back to 1983. David Stoate and Helen Campion manage the station that their children Joanna and Timothy also call home.
The Stoate legacy at ‘Anna’ began when John Stoate (David’s father), then working with the WA Department of Agriculture, became aware of the Station and ultimately took ownership of it, acknowledging: “It was a bit bigger hobby farm than most people take on when they retire . . . “
During his time at the Department of Ag, John was instrumental in developing (with the Meat and Livestock Corporation), CALM (Computer Aided Livestock Marketing), which became AuctionsPlus, Australia’s single biggest livestock marketplace.
At 91, John is clearly proud and grateful for his time in the Kimberley, as this 5-minute clip shows.
