Chicken and rice cooked inside bamboo — silent mountain forest ASMR.
This is bamboo tube cooking over a wood fire in the tropical rainforest of the Philippines.
Michael hikes deep into the mountains with his cousins, gathers a natural fire-starting resin (“salong”), and prepares fresh bamboo for cooking. They cut and hollow the bamboo, pour in rice and chicken, and slow-cook it over open flame until it’s fragrant and smoky. Plates are made from banana trunk, then the bamboo is opened and the group eats together in the forest.
Respect the forest: the resin comes from the Almaciga (Agathis philippinensis), and cutting/felling is prohibited—this was gathered without cutting the tree.
