Hospital employee finds colleague covered in blood following attack

Описание: Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Monica Scott was working Thursday night in the emergency department at Highland Hospital when she received an alert for a person in need.

"We originally got the call, the MERT response for someone in the parking garage, and I was literally running around the parking garage trying to find where the person was," Scott said. "Security was in the parking garage, also just circling around the parking garage trying to find who we're looking for."

Scott said that's when one of the nurses received an update on the alert.

"One of the responding nurses had gotten that call, so the call was made from her phone to someone in the hospital that she had been assaulted outside, so then we all came outside and it was just a huge response," Scott said.

Rochester police said staff members flagged officers down on Rockingham Street, just off hospital grounds.

"There was blood just all over," Scott said. "It was on her phone, it was on her badge, it was all over her uniform,"

Even though they worked separate shifts, Scott said she knew the nurse as a well-respected woman who had worked for years at Highland — and was only two weeks away from retirement.
