Cutting oil can be extremely harsh on delicate technologies like sensors. In fact, 30% of component failures are caused by cutting oil ingress.
Omron’s oil-resistant, IP67G-rated sensors solve this problem by providing rugged durability for harsh environments.
By eliminating oil ingress from any direction, these sensors minimize unexpected downtime and significantly reduce the overall cost of ownership.
Their outer cable sheaths prevent cutting oil from reaching the fiber core, ensuring longevity and cleanability in the harshest of environments.
The sheaths are made of fluororesin, a special rubber developed by Omron that provides superior resistance to corrosion.
Fluororesin is a hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber that has been blended with fluororubber in a unique compound that suppresses cable swelling and deterioration.
It ensures zero oil penetration at joint surfaces, preventing cutting oil from damaging the PCB inside the sensor.
Omron’s patented Smartclick structure combined with an O-ring seal eliminates screw loosening due to vibration.
The single-motion locking seals and blocks all oil ingress.
In addition to cable sheaths, joints and moving sections, cutting oil enters easily through gaps between dissimilar materials.
Omron’s oil-resistant components completely block ingress with a unique structure that does not allow gap creation.
A new Ingress Protection industrial rating indicates protection against dust and water immersion up to 1m, with the letter G signifying oil resistance.
Omron IP67G-rated sensors pass the IP67G standard oil drop test as well as Omron’s own extended life test and oil-immersion testing.
Omron’s oil-resistant components solve problems at all phases of production and resist oil ingress for up to 4 years, which is four times longer than the competition.
The IP67G oil-resistant photoelectric sensors, model E3ZR-C, have a fluororesin outer cable sheath as well as laser sealing without adhesives.
The IP67G oil-resistant proximity sensors, models E2ER and E2ERZ, also have a fluororesin outer cable sheath and are heat-welded with a fluoro component. Standard and chip-immune models are available.
The IP67G oil-resistant connectors, model XS5R, employ the Smartclick structure and O-ring seal as well as a fluororesin outer cable sheath. Omron’s technology combines forming and sealing methods with surface bonding techniques to ensure maximum protection.
Benefits of Omron’s IP67G-rated sensor line include increased longevity, enhanced quality control, added flexibility, better efficiency and higher customer satisfaction.
