Gotta love this Roy Orbison tune, co-written by two other favourites of mine, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. It's a challenge to do justice to his otherworldly vocals, but, couldn't resist covering it. This song always brings me back to a late night, when I lived in Brighton. The lamplit streets outside my window were quiet and airy, not a soul was walking about, and there I was, working on some songs when out of the cool silence came the smooth sound of wheels and Roy Orbison's voice, reverberating off the buildings. No sooner had I looked out my window than I saw a top down, 50's style car swerving around the corner, playing 'You Got It' at full volume. Moments like that are what I live for.
