This contemporary retelling of ancient Greek mythology intertwines the tragic love story of Orpheus and Eurydice with the tale of Hades and Persephone.

Set in a world where the line between the living and the underworld blurs, the story follows Orpheus, a passionate musician determined to rescue his beloved Eurydice from the clutches of Hades, ruler of the underworld. Persephone, the goddess of spring, adds both warmth and conflict as she navigates her strained relationship with Hades.

Through a powerful mix of folk, jazz, blues, and American roots-inspired music, Hadestown explores themes of hope, love, sacrifice, and resilience. The musical reminds us of the importance of holding onto belief, even when the odds seem impossible, and how the act of telling—and retelling—stories keeps them alive.
