This extraordinary deer skull "Aguas Mágicas" was created by Contemporary Beadwork Artist, Lys Santamaria. Inspired by the magic of water, Lys used three different shades of blue to honor its depth and healing power. "Every day, we use water to wash our hands, bathe and nourish our bodies. We are made of water. If we are water, then each of us has the capacity to heal, cleanse and adapt - just like water." This sculpture is meant to reflect the greatest and most powerful version of our true natures.

On a trip to Big Bend National Park, Lys found this real deer skull and began the process of transforming it into this mystical piece you see now. To create this piece, Lys laid down every bead individually, mixed every shade of blue and painted every dot with care. Every surface has been carefully contemplated, painted and decorated. This deer skull took many hours of cleaning, painting, beading and conceptualizing. The attention to detail on every surface is evident - even the underside of the skull is intricately painted in pointillism.
